You will be my witnesses …. to the ends of the earth.
Welcome to our December NWA update. Here we bring you an update on additional units on-site as well as more news on our programme line up.
New Word Alive 2012 – additional units coming…
We have been waiting for about 70 additional units to be made available for New Word Alive (they are currently being refurbished). Pontins had informed us that they would be available for booking by November but unfortunately that hasn't proved possible. While it seems certain the units will be ready for the event at the moment there is no fixed date for when they can be booked.
We do apologise for this delay, and feel very aware that many of you having been waiting patiently for this extra units. We will continue to pursue a release date for them but we don't expect any movement on them until the New Year.
In January the final balance is due on the units guests have booked – a reminder to those who have booked to make their payment by 12th January.
Traditionally that is also the moment we have some units cancelled. So, from either cancellations and/or additional units, we expect to have some additional units available at the end of January. Once they are available Pontins will be contacting those of you on the waiting list.
Staying Off-site – Event Passes are still available
You can also attend New Word Alive by organising your own accommodation off-site. There are many places to stay very close to the park, including good value caravan parks, B&B's, cottages or hotels. Our website has a list of local accommodation to start you off. If you stay off-site you will then need to buy an event pass to attend New Word Alive. Event passes are now available to buy from our online shop. Prices are frozen from last year at £110/adult and £50/child, with those aged 2 and under free.
2012 Programme Update
Our last update gave details of our morning programme. Here is a taste of what will be happening in some of the afternoon tracks.
Tackling common questions: we can all face questions about our faith, whether it's issues of science, the reliability of the Bible, how God can be good when religion does evil… This track will equip us with how to handle such questions.
Church Leadership: this track will give teaching and guidance to those involved in church leadership – particular for those who are unable to attend some of the leadership conferences due to other commitments.
Help for the struggling: this track will look at help for those struggling with particular issues of stress, pornography, depression and mental illness, and how we as individuals and churches can play our part.
Encouraging one another: this track will show us how we can help one another change and grow to know Jesus better – just by our words. Or rather God's words!
Being a Christian in the workplace: this track will help us think about how a Christian should view their 'secular' work. We'll look at the big picture of work in general, right down to the specifics of particular issues like being a manager or facing redundancy.
Handling Debt: how should Christians view their money and their debts?! It's an increasing problem in the current climate of course. This track will offer a Biblical perspective on debt and practical suggestions for both individuals dealing with debt, and for local churches seeking to offer help to others.
Yours warmly,
Nigel Beynon
Director of New Word Alive
